To follow up on our Chairperson Aoife Kearneys win for Modified state exam papers, Here is a simple explanation of the options VI students have for exams – Deadline for schools to apply is APRIL 17TH
A standard state exam paper is A4 in font 12/14 with images, graphs, diagrams etc.
Until now VI students have had only 3 choices of paper –
· Standard paper enlarged to A3.
· Modified paper enlarged to A3.
· Braille paper, which will always be modified.
Modified means all pictures removed and diagrams simplified.
Digital papers are now available in non modified or modified.
The digital papers are non editable PDFs of the paper.
The student can pinch screen to get size they want and pan the paper as they want
A3 & Digital papers can be provided for Mocks, Pre Mocks, Christmas and Summer papers by the school
Modified, modified digital are not available for mocks, pre mocks, summer or Christmas exams
So from this June, Junior Cert and Leaving Cert students can choose from the following
- · Standard paper enlarged to A3.
- · Modified paper enlarged to A3.
- · Braille paper, which will always be modified
- · Digital version of standard state paper
- · Digital version of modified state paper
Here are examples of Standard versus Modified – Not a huge difference but makes the page less busy
