Failte Ireland Accessibility Survey

As you know Fáilte Ireland’s national stakeholder consultation on Accessible and Inclusive Tourism is now underway.

On behalf of Fáilte Ireland, S3 Solutions is inviting people with different accessibility and inclusion needs, and organisations which represent and support them, to contribute to this important research.  The study aims to better understand people’s experiences of tourism and leisure activities in Ireland – what works well, the challenges they may experience, and what could be improved to make tourism more accessible and inclusive for everyone.

As part of the next phase of the research, we are inviting individuals and organisations to share their experiences and perspectives through a series of online focus groups and a national survey.  As an organisation representing the blind and vision-impaired community we would greatly appreciate your support in encouraging participation and ensuring that the experiences and perspectives of those you represent are reflected in the research.

Online Focus Group

We are currently organising a focus group for vision-impaired participants and the organisations who represent them, providing an opportunity for participants to share their experiences of tourism and leisure activities in Ireland, including any barriers they may have encountered and improvements they would like to see.

An additional focus group has now been added to give participants the option of an evening slot.

The focus group will explore experiences of planning and booking trips, travelling to and accessing places, using tourism facilities and services, and feeling welcome and included.

Focus group details

  • Date: Tuesday 27th October
  • Time: 6pm
  • Format: Online via Microsoft Teams
  • Duration: Approximately 60 minutes

We would welcome participation from representatives of your organisation and individuals within your wider network.  Taking part is voluntary, and participants are welcome to share as much or as little of their experience as they wish. Contributions will be treated confidentially, and findings will be reported in an anonymised and aggregated form.

We will also work with participants to accommodate accessibility or communication requirements where possible.  If you or someone within your network would like to participate, please contact isabella.shaw@s3solutions.co.uk. If the proposed date or time is unsuitable, please get in touch and we will endeavour to arrange an alternative.

National Online Survey

Alongside the focus groups, Failte Ireland are inviting individuals to complete an online survey to share their experiences of tourism across Ireland, including what works well, any accessibility or inclusion challenges they have experienced, and what could be improved.  We would be grateful if you could circulate the survey across your wider network to encourage as many people as possible to share their views.

The survey can be accessed here:

Your Support

Failte Ireland would greatly appreciate your assistance in raising awareness of these opportunities and encouraging participation. Hearing directly from people with lived experience is an important part of ensuring that the research reflects the diverse needs and experiences of people travelling across Ireland.  If you have any questions about the research or would like to discuss participation, please do not hesitate to get in touch.  Thank you for considering supporting this important work. Your contribution will help Fáilte Ireland build a better understanding of accessibility and inclusion in tourism.
