The first ever All Ireland Training Course for SNA/CA’s supporting blind and vision impaired students in education was held on February 20th in Belfast. Delivered by Féach and Angel Eyes NI. We worked with 20 really committed, hardworking Classroom Assistants. So many eureka moments and so much peer support among the group, it was really heartening. We are lucky to have these women guiding and supporting our children to become independent learners. Day 2 of All Island SNA/CA Training course took place in Dublin a week later. What a group of committed, hardworking, engaged women we have supporting our children. SNA/CA’s are the conduit between the student and the teacher and between the student and the curriculum, they play a pivotal role in ensuring children with vision impairment can access the curriculum and become independent learners. It was a privilege, together with Angel Eyes NI to deliver this training course. Can’t wait for further collaboration in the future. Thank you to the Department of Foreign Affairs for funding us through the Shared Island Civic Society Fund.
