We are organising some social events for children to meet and make friends with other blind and visually impaired children.
Feach Family Information Day
Fẽach are delighted to invite you to their family day, in the Heritage Hotel Portlaoise, on Saturday 6th November 2010, from 2:00pm till 5:00pm (approx). This year we have an eclectic mix of speakers from all walks of life.
Mr. Dỏnal Fitzpatrick - Dỏnal was the first blind graduate of Computing in DCU and is now a lecturer at the School of Computing there. Dỏnal is also a skier, cyclist, sailor, musician, hill-walker, martial artist, soccer fanatic and raconteur.
Ms. Teia Regan – Teia who has been blind since the age of three is currently a student in Trinity College Dublin, she will talk about social skills and mobility and there importance in the life of a blind/visually impaired person.
Ms. Joan Curran – Joan is an educational physiologist with Enable Ireland she has many years experience working within and around limitations of vision. She will talk about fostering self esteem in blind/visually impaired children.
Ms. Sandra Garvey Dyson – Sandra who is visually impaired herself will be talking about sailing for Blind/Visually Impaired and the opportunities to participate in international events.
Irish Guide Dogs, NCBI and St. Josephs will also attend.
Our Family Day has really developed into a fun day for all the family and also an ideal opportunity for children who are blind and visually impaired and their siblings to meet other children. We’d ask that you please advise us of numbers of children attending to allow us to cater fully for them.
The Heritage Hotel Portlaoise is only 1 hour from Dublin and less than 5 minutes walk from the train station.
